Luxating Patella Surgeries
We offer several different options to correct a luxating patella.
A suture imbrication to hold the patella in the groove.
A wedge procedure to deepen the groove.
A Ridge stop implant that is screwed onto the bone to deepen the groove and hold the patella in place.
We perform two different procedures.
The extracapsular imbrication. Where a heavy nylon suture is placed to stabilize the joint. This works better on the smaller dogs.
The Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP)
This is a modified TTA procedure that uses a Titanium foam wedge implant, staple and IM pin to stabilize the joint.
Our surgeon's use the best implants needed for the job.
This can include an IM pin, plate and screws, wire or an external fixature.
